ConnectSmart is supported by a combination of local, state, and federal funding. The Federal Highway Administration has committed federal transportation funds as part of its five-year, FAST Act-established Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment Program. In support, the Texas Department of Transportation has contributed state and local funds for ConnectSmart’s implementation.
Connectsmart leverages behavioral economics, artificial intelligence, and the latest technology to positively influence traveler behavior. This burgeoning field has shown to be a cost-effective means of actively managing congestion, serving as a complement to capacity improvement programs.
